The Captains Lounge

Continuing on the restaurant front, we are working hard to get “The Captains Lounge” up and running for the July 4th weekend. We have exciting plans for this space and plan to install new TVs with expanded sports coverage for all your favorite games along with full beverage service and air-conditioned bar for those hot summer days. We will be sending more info about the progress in The Captains Lounge over the coming weeks.

Systems issues

On a solemn note, Kara and I want to extend our apologies for the billing and email issues that have come to light over the past couple of weeks. We have identified and remedied the issue with the email accounts, and are working diligently to fix all the billing issues. Please continue to reach out if you have any questions or feel there is an error in any of your invoices and we will attend to those matters promptly. We continue to refine our internal processes and are working toward clear and transparent billings that are timely and accurate. We appreciate your patience as we work toward this end.

The marina

You’ll likely have noticed a few new faces walking the docks. Joining Becky in the Ships Store is her husband, David. In addition to working with Becky in the store, David is taking on the responsibility of being our Dock Master. Joining him for the summer is his grandson Sawyer. Sawyer will be here to help you with your lines as you are coming and going, assisting with the boat rentals and helping keep the marina in good repair. We will be actively monitoring channel 16 and our working channel will be 68, please give us a call as you are approaching and we will be there to assist.

Electricity

In other marina “news,” with the volatility in the energy markets and ever-increasing energy costs, we will need to bill for electricity going forward. Marina electricity rates will be:

–          30 amp without air conditioning        $58.50/mo or $5.25/ day

–          30 amp with air conditioning               $80.00/mo or $7.50/day

–          50 amp without air conditioning        $75.00/mo or $8.50/day

–          50 amp with air conditioning               $95.00/mo or $11/day

We do regular dock walks to help ensure clients are billed accurately. Please note, if you have (2) 30-amp cords connected to a pedestal, we will assume that 1 has air conditioning and the other does not.  Also, if we see water being pumped continuously from your vessel, we will assume you have air conditioning running. If you have any questions about the policy and how it will be implemented, please let Todd know.

Grounds-keeping

Returning to our recent hires, we have also welcomed Mike Saunders as our full-time grounds-keeper.   Mike has been working tirelessly to shape trees, weed and mulch flower beds and keep this place clean and tidy. We still have more to go, but each day we see another area transformed and we are thrilled with the progress. Some of you may already know, but Mike’s grandparents used to live in the house the offices occupy, and he has a special love for the property, which is evident in all his hard work.

The boatyard

We have also welcomed Chris Mathers and James Cole to our staff. Chris is a Yankee Point veteran who has returned to help us with bottom painting, waxing, boat hauling and general maintenance. James has joined us from Tortola as our mechanic. James has worked with B+G since 2017 and knows diesel, gas and outboard engines. These two along with the existing core of Wayne, Jeremiah and Mike make for a formidable team able to accomplish most anything your boat might need.

Looking into the summer

We are in the planning stages for a number of fun events over the summer. We are working on live music for the weekend of July 8th; we have the Coast Guard Auxiliary who will be coming to do courtesy inspections on June 18th; and other events are in their infancy, but planning is ongoing. We hope to see you here!
