I am writing this from an altitude of 35,000 feet on my way back from checking in with our BVI team and competing in the 50th BVI Spring Regatta (suffice to say I was not called to the podium during prize giving). For anyone considering taking part in the Caribbean racing circuit, BVI Spring Regatta should not be missed – Kara’s father Bob Phillips as long-standing Chairman of the event makes a point to design exciting courses, the racing is both competitive and fun, and the event as a whole has a family-friendly vibe.

Ok, enough buttering up my in-laws. Summer is coming and we are excited!

While I have been galivanting, the team here has been busy in my absence: we have launched new floating docks, continue to modify the boat ramp, repairs to The Shack kitchen are just about done, our restaurant team is growing and we have been busy in The Captains Lounge transforming it to, well, a bit more of a lounge. Out in the boat yard many of the boats are going through their spring commissioning and the Travelift is busy launching boats that have spent the winter with us.

As some of you have heard, we are in the final planning stages and will be soon announcing what will be an annual summer benefit concert series. We have organized 10 musical acts to play over 10 weeks and the proceeds will benefit 10 different local charities. The concerts will be held from the front porch of the office (it and what has been used as parking will be getting an upgrade) and music will project over Myer Creek, allowing friends and fans to enjoy from the comfort of their boats if they choose. For those out on the Creek, our dock team will be coming around in the Whaler to collect donations. All concerts in the series will be on Friday evenings starting with Memorial Day Weekend and there is no cover charge to attend.

Father’s Day Weekend we will have our benefit concert Friday evening, and a second musical event at The Shack Saturday evening. Saturday’s musician is Barefoot Davis who spends winters in St. Thomas and can pretty much always be found barefoot, and he will be performing as part of a very special 50th birthday celebration for our good friend Monica Geppert. Kara and I have known Monica and her husband Paul for a very long time and we have all worked together professionally here and there. Monica and Paul visited us a few times in 2022 and have fallen for Yankee Point just as we have – they would like to welcome our Yankee Point community to enjoy the music with them. We will offer specials out of The Shack for the evening and hope you will join us in the celebration.

For the final weekend in July, we are excited to be bringing back the Lobster Roast! We will be capping the number of tickets at 80, please stay tuned for the formal announcement for this event and book your tickets early. As with Father’s Day Weekend, we will have live music both for the benefit concert on Friday and for the Lobster Roast on Saturday.

Other exciting news includes that the pool will be opening on Memorial Day weekend, we are adding a volley ball court, corn hole and horseshoes at The Shack, and the menus at both The Shack and The Captains Lounge are being revamped for this season. This summer season at Yankee Point is going to be a blast!

Thank you all for your continued patronage and we look forward to a fun and eventful summer.
