Boater Safety Training Course

YANKEE POINT MARINA IS CO-SPONSOR OF A FREE BOATING SAFETY EDUCATION COURSE BEING HELD BY THE COAST GUARD AUXILIARY ON APRIL 22 AT THE YANKEE POINT RACING AND CRUISING CLUB. THE WORKSHOP WILL START AT 8AM AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE EARLY AFTERNOON.

Attending the course will ensure that boat owners are compliant with Virginia State Boating Law (§ 29.1-735.2.), and all attendees will receive a certification card. The session will cover basics essential to the new (and old) boater: some boating vocabulary, safety equipment, safe operation and navigation, emergencies, legal stuff, and trailering.

Lunch will be available for $5. Please email YPRCCevents@gmail.com or phone 804 475 9393 to book a place and to order a sandwich.

Virginia State Boating Law (§ 29.1-735.2.) states: “No person shall operate a motorboat with a motor of 10 horsepower or greater or personal watercraft on the public waters of the Commonwealth, unless the operator has met the requirements for boating safety education.”

The penalty for not having documentation of safety education is $100.
